How to Be Selected Among The Numerous Applicants


Are you worried why you're always not counted among the selected applicants for every opportunity you apply for? Were you not having the necessary requirements and experiences? Were those requirements and experiences not listed on your resume? I believe you did everything necessary but you were unfortunate to land as part of the selected applicants.

Know this:

A vacant position at least receives over 100 applicants from online applications. So the question is, how do HR`s select just 5 or 10 people from the 100 applicants to process them for interview?

Be reminded that HR`s do not sit down and read through all the 100 resumes sent for application. The company's system through which you apply for the job does the sorting out automatically before forwarding the qualified applicants to the HR for further processing.

1. What should you do first before applying?

Read about the job description and the requirements. Getting to know about the roles and what are expected of the qualified applicant will give you the best idea of how your resume must be structured.

2. Ask yourself if you have the requirements for the position you want to apply.

Whereas some requirements demands training and education to acquire, some are just soft skills you acquire naturally if you know yourself very well. But the core skills the company needs you to work with, do you have them? If yes, list them down.

3. Edit your resume

You can not use the same format of the resume you have been using to apply for customer servicing roles to apply for other jobs which value certain skills more than the customer servicing experience you have. Edit your resume in such a way that the needed skills and experiences needed for the job you're applying for are structured on top of any other skills you have.

Remember, it is a system that does the screening before selecting the best people for the interview processing. If the system neeeds only 5 people and the very first 5 applicants are having the required skills and are on top of their resumes, the system will no longer continue the screening of the other applicants because it has got what it wanted.
